Fall has been my favorite season ever since I can remember. It has always seemed to me that the misty mornings, crisp air, and the warm, golden sun-rays bring an enchanting feeling. A sense of peace, mystery, magic and wonder, a promise that something wonderful is going to happen. And finally having pumpkin soup again! This year is no exception, and I couldn’t help but capture all the colors that autumn has painted over my beloved city Copenhagen. Here are some of the precious memories I gathered this season so far. Happy Autumn! 🙂
Sunday morning’s aroma at our place is of coffee and baked Danish cinnamon roll pastries (Gifflars).
Our friends reminded us today that our wedding is (only) 7 months away! 🙂 We have been asked a lot about the wedding planning lately, so here is a recap of what the love of my life and I have been up to since the engagement.
How far are we with the preparations for our big day?
My fiancé and I have been together since we were 17 years old. We are high school sweethearts, who spent 2 years long distance at only 18 years of age, when I left Bulgaria after graduation to continue my university degree in Denmark. Despite what everyone believed (“we were too young to know what love was”, or that “long distance relationship never worked”), we were crazy about each other, and we were determined to change the story that everyone believed they knew the ending of. By miles away, but by heart closer than ever! The distance was just the start of something amazing, the foundation of what we feel is the love of our lives.
On 21 October 2017, we got engaged! It was the most beautiful, stunning and adventurous proposal I could have ever dreamed of.
Couple of days ago, on 24 May 2017, Bulgaria marked the National Day of Culture and the Creation of the Cyrillic Alphabet, which is probably our most beautiful celebration. For the readers that are not familiar – on this day, as per tradition, all senior students celebrate their graduation from high school. Usually, we have the graduation ceremony right after the final exams, and the prom on the actual graduation day.
That day also marked eight years since I was a senior in high school. Facebook likes to remind me every year, how long ago that was – not that I need any reminder, that day and the summer after would remain something I would never forget. However, I did what I haven’t done in years – I looked through the digital albums (my actual paperback album is at my childhood room at home in Burgas) of our graduation ceremony and beautiful prom. It felt like stepping out of my world and looking at these moments of my life from another person’s perspective. I see confident young people, who cannot wait to go “out there” and make a difference. That inspired me to share my thoughts with the new graduates, and pass a simple lesson.
